My dad’s going in for hip replacement surgery tomorrow morning. He has been in pain for years and I’m glad he’ll finally be able to get some relief. Unfortunately this means that he’ll never ever have a smooth trip through airport security checkpoints again.

The procedure is usually over in just two or three hours, and he’ll be out of the hospital in as many days.
