The Wii’s Virtual Console has been hacked to pieces.
You can find pirated VC games at your favorite torrent sites and install them with nothing more than a copy of Zelda and a buffer-overflow exploit loaded on an SD card. The entire process is dead easy, takes just minutes, and you don’t even need a modchip!
Retail disc-based games are immune to piracy without a modchip, but with homebrew software like emulators now installable on unmodified consoles, I would guess that some kind of ISO loader is not far off.
This whole thing is probably easily detectable, but what’s Nintendo going to do? Ban you from their gimped, practically worthless, nearly non-existent “online network”? Oh noes.
